Owie! Can't forget about the devblog!
University has been kicking my butt, so there hasn't been much concrete progress in the game itself since the last post. I have, however, been musing about what fonts to use for the game. I think one might agree reading text is generally important in most RPGs!
Turns out finding a font for normal text that is non-straining, pretty, memorable, and legible is a tall order. Add the fact that currently I'm working with a 0$ budget and it's a real needle-in-haystack search. But I'm sure that I'll find something that works out eventually!
Otherwise, I've also been thinking about how the encounter system presents itself. Currently, both the LOVE and VIOLENCE encounters use a front-view look (which means fights are in the first person and you see the opponents directly on front). I've been wondering if changing VIOLENCE encounters to use a side-view look (what most turn-based JRPGs use) would give more pizzazz. It certainly cements the difference between the two a lot better. But does it separate them too much? Having cohesion is important and that might harm that.
Only way to know is to try. Fortunately I can easily switch back if I do try out side-view.
Anyway, back to the real world for me. Whether you're getting the first snow or baking under the warm season's sun, wherever you are, keep your body at adequate temperatures! Huzzah!
